If your family receives an eligible government payment (such as Family Tax Benefit Part A) at any point during the calendar year, then you do not need to register them for the Child Dental Benefits Scheme (CDBS); enrollment would be automatic.
What Is the CDBS?
The CDBS is administered through Medicare and provides eligible children with up to $1,158 in benefits for basic dental services over a 2-year period.
The dental services covered by the CDBS are:
- Dental check-ups and examinations
- X-rays and teeth cleaning
- Fissure sealing and fillings
- Root canals and tooth extractions
- Partial dentures
It does not cover cosmetic dentistry, orthodontic treatment, or any services provided in a hospital.
Checking Eligibility
To ensure your child is eligible automatically and to find out their remaining benefit balance, you can:
- Log in to your myGov account and access your Medicare online services.
- Call the general Medicare line on 132 011
SmilesHQ welcomes children covered by the CDBS to our Warners Bay dental clinic.
